The CHIEFTAIN is renowned as the best public house for darts in the area; over a period of some 25 years since the Lancashire County Darts Organisation have played their home fixtures at various venues in Morecambe, many top class players from visiting Counties use the Chieftain to meet up.

World Champions such as John Lowe, Jocky Wilson, John Walton, Dennis Priestley, Alan Warriner, the late Billy Lennard Leighton Rees and Alan Evans have all been through the doors at the Chieftain. More recently Steve Coote, Gary Cartmell and Fred Carter all of the Lancashire Committee can be found in the pub on County weekends. The Bruise Brothers Paul Whitworth & Mark Holden were a popular twosome on the darts board at the pub.

Some recent World Champions have played exhibition matches for various charities the most recent being the present World Champion Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham, Tony David along with the Worlds best ever lady player Trina Gulliver, all paid the pub a visit while on an Embassy Road Show.

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor stood in for Eric Bristow who had unfortunately been double booked when he should have played a tribute match for the world famous Alan Glazier and Mike Gregory (who was regular in the Chieftain before moving to live in Rochdale).

Dave Shackleton and Mick O’Hara played all comers for 8 hours to raise funds for the Jennifer Wilson appeal, a cheque for £3,500 was donated on a night at the pub to Christies Heart & Lung Hospital at Manchester.

With such a rich history and the wealth of prestigious names who have stepped up the the oche it’s no wonder that the Chieftain is the place to come to get your Game On!
